What does KENAI make?
Wild game treats and supplements for working gun dogs, and the field app their handlers run on. Joint Guard Wild Game is the daily joint chew ($29.99). Is any of it dog food?
No. Every KENAI product is a treat or a supplement, given alongside the diet your dog already eats. The squares and sticks are rewards and field fuel. Joint Guard and ON POINT are daily supplements.
How many treats can I give in a day?
Veterinary guidance caps treats at about 10% of daily calories, and training rewards count toward it. A Drive Square is about 4.5 calories, built to fit inside that budget. A Fuel Stick is about 90 calories, for the long day or the jackpot.
What is in Joint Guard, exactly?
Five compounds per chew, every amount printed on the panel: Glucosamine HCl 125 mg, Chondroitin Sulfate 62.5 mg, Sea Cucumber 62.5 mg, MSM 50 mg, and the wild game protein the four are built into. No proprietary blend.
Is it grain free?
ON POINT is grain free. Drive Squares and Fuel Sticks carry 7% brown rice flour. Joint Guard has no corn, soy, or wheat.
What age can a dog start?
Joint Guard and the PRIMAL treats are made for dogs 12 weeks and older.
Where is it made?
Built in Utah, in small batches, with a batch number on every bag. Joint Guard is made in an FDA-registered facility and third-party tested.
The wild game
Where does the wild game come from?
Wild elk, deer, and bison, taken each fall across the Rocky Mountains in the states' regular hunting seasons. Nothing is hunted for these products and nothing is farmed for them. The trimmings and bone that don't go to the table at a wild game butcher have usually gone to the landfill. We buy that protein, and it becomes the base.
Why wild game instead of beef or chicken?
Because it is the animal he was bred to hunt. By USDA figures per 100 g raw, elk carries about 23 g of protein and 1.45 g of fat, deer about 23 g and 2.42 g, and lean bison about 21.6 g and 1.84 g. A 2002 study of wild ruminant meat (Cordain and colleagues, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition) found it leaner than grain-fed beef, with a larger share of omega-3 fats.
Why does supply vary?
Because it is wild. Supply follows the harvest, so no two batches are identical and runs vary. Subscribers ship first on every batch.

What is the KENAI app?

Does the map work without cell signal?
Yes. Save the view you are looking at before you lose service, and the map keeps working offline. Saving the current view is free.
Why is part of my track a dotted line?
A phone in a pocket loses GPS. Where it went quiet, the app draws a dotted line across the gap instead of inventing a path, and where your phone counted steps, it measures the gap by them. Pocket GPS is hard. We would rather show you the gap than hide it.
Whose distance is that?
Yours. Miles, time, and climb come from the handler's phone track, never the dog's.
